There are several hospitals and medical facilities around Fort Lauderdale. Most offer urgent care.

Broward Medical Center, Holy Cross and Imperial Point Hospitals are all centrally located in Fort Lauderdale. See bottom of the page for addresses and contact numbers.

If you need medical equpment to rent or purchase, there are several services available. If you are visiting, or taking a cruise, and need respiratory oxygen, beach wheel chairs, beds, electric scooters, or patient lifts, it’s all available for short-term rental, and can be delivered to hotels and cruise ships. See Important Numbers below.

Natural Choices

Nat choicesHolistic and Naturopathic approaches to medicine have become a far more accepted path to whole health, and are readily available around Fort Lauderdale.

There are several excellent sources for Chinese and herbal medicines and remedies. Acupuncturists, massage, chiropractic treatments, health food & natural vitamin stores- for humans and pets- can be found throughout the city.

spasIf you need a bit of pampering, you’re in the right town! Many upscale hotels offer luxurious facilities open to the public. These are particularly nice, as they usually include hot tubs and a refreshing plunge in their pools!

There are several excellent full service day spas, providing clients with massage, oxygenating baths, facials, manicures & pedicures, hot stone therapy, exfoliation, aromatherapy, reflexology and much more.

fitnessPilates and Yoga is the way to go if you want some core training and stress reduction. Whether you live here, or visiting, and need a quick fix- you will find a variety of great studios in Fort Lauderdale.

Visit the beach, and you will find several ways to stay in shape! Basketball and volleyball courts, jog, walk or bike with a group – or solo – and of course yoga. There are many excellent gyms around town, and at the beach, offering free weights, machines, exercise classes and martial arts.

Weights and cardio are the way to go if you want to build muscle, or trim down to stay fit for the future. For high school students as well as adults, there are a variety of places to stay fit in Broward. If you live near Ft Lauderdale, head to the beach and enjoy the beautiful and serene water, while running in the sand to work on your cardio and stamina. After your workout, you can have a healthy lunch or fresh smoothie.

If you live on the west side near Plantation and Sunrise, there are many options for your workout routine. Visit Central Park, and train on their excellent track; one side for walkers, the other side for the track stars that want a really excellent cardio workout! Along the track you will find stations to do various exercises to keep your blood flowing! Volunteer Park, is another great place to get, and stay fit.

If you are into traditional body building, visit a gym like an LA Fitness, with a plethora of weights, treadmills and equipment that will surely satisfy your needs. There are options for physical well-being all around the county, and options for everybody- so remember; there is no excuse for a lack of physical fitness & exercise!

In Fort Lauderdale there are drugstores and pharmacies on practically every corner! The two largest are CVS and Walgreens. Many are open 24 hours a day, and have drive-through.
