The Stacks Came Down

The red and white striped stacks at Port Everglades came down this morning at 6:45 am.  It was a very sad days for many- especially all the sailors and pilots that used them to navigate into the port.  They were always looked upon lovingly, and will be sorely missed.  Florida Power and Light owned the 350′ stacks and  boilers. Construction on new, more energy efficient power center will begin soon, and should be completed in 2016. On the lighter side- there will be quite a few new jobs created to build the new plant.
