 Beautiful Fort Lauderdale Beaches!

The beach is a wonderful place to spend time with your family and friends – or on your own! Always considered the focal point of Fort Lauderdale, you will find an amazing number of activities to fill your day! There are variety of water sports available, turtle watching, playgrounds, basketball & volley ball courts, bike rentals and great places to eat and shop. And of course there is sunbathing! Don’t bother dragging the beach chairs – you can rent a chaise, an umbrella or a cabana!

For a another great experience, plan an evening BBQ on the beach! There are several grills stationed under the palms, plenty of new picnic tables, and a very nice playground close by for the kids! Throughout the year, there are concerts, fireworks, and festivals held right on the beach. Rinse the sand off your feet and head over to near-by Las Olas Boulevard for a completely different experience! Las Olas is teaming with excellent restaurants, galleries and boutiques.

Just across from the famed Bahia Mar Hotel and Marina, you will find the newly remodeled public parking, just inches from the sand! There you will also find restrooms, outdoor showers and handicap parking. No longer will you have to wait in a long line to pay at the booth – there are automated pay stations where you can take care of parking fees.

Have a picnic or BBQ down at the beach today!  Tables, grills and playground under the pines near the parking lot!  Click here for great meal ideas!  Food & Libations!

IMG_0474 Snorkeling, deep-sea, sports fishing and Intracoastal sightseeing boats are also available just across the road on A1A.  From the Bahia Mar Hotel and Marina, for several blocks heading north, there are several sport fishing boats for hire.  Whether you want to charter your own yacht, join a deep sea boat, or go inland to catch fish in the river and Intracoastal waterways, there is something for every need and budget!

imagesCAFP1LUAOn the west side of A1A there is a world not quite as serene as the sandy shoreline!  The “Strip” as it has been fondly called for decades,  has all the action you could possibly want!  Probably one of the most popular and revered watering holes is the Elbo Room.  There you can rub shoulders with locals and visitors from around the globe!  There are many hotel lounges, clubs and bars if you want to grab a tropical cocktail or ice cold beer.

There are almost  unlimited choices when it comes to grabbing a quick bite- or enjoy some fine dining.  Eat outside along the beachfront sidewalk,  cool off in an air conditioned restaurant, on a dock while watching the yachts go by or just  grab a sandwich and return to your spot on the beach!  Many hotels are open to the public for a delicious meal and cocktail.
